The study concerns the elaboration of the General Urban Plan of the Municipal Unit of Koufalia of the Kallikratis Municipality of Koufalia. The Stage A has been completed and advised the Board of Directors of Koufalia with its decision no. 239/2012 and with its no. 23383 / 17-12-2012 document of the Supervisory Service was given an order for the B1 Stage of the Study.
The Municipality of Koufalia, for the most of its part, has agricultural land (75%, National Staistical Service of Greece). Of these, a large area at the center of the Municipality is irrigated. According to NSSG data, pastures (15%) and settlements (4%) follow, while forests are not recorded in the Municipality of Koufalia. An important element of the natural environment of the Municipality is the Axios River, which presents a significant number of fauna and flora species and is protected by the «Natura 2000» network.
