The Study concerns the elaboration of the General Urban Plan of the Municipal Unit of Amyntaio of the Kallikratis Municipality of Amyntaio. The Stage A has been completed, for which the archaeological services, the forest service’s and the Municipality have been approved by decision of the Board of Directors. In addition, the Stage B1 has been delivered, which is expected to be sent to the bodies for an opinion. At the same time, a geological study has been carried out for the whole of the Municipal Unit of Amyntaio as well as a Strategic Environmental Impact Study, which is approved by the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change and this is a prerequisite for the final formulation of the General Urban Plan proposal in the Stage B2.
In the study area, Natura 2000 sites are located and are the wider areas of the Vegoritida and Petron lakes, while PPC lignite mines operate, the Amyndeo Mine and the Kleidi Mine. The majority of the area is covered by pastureland (45%), followed by cultivated land and fallow land (31%). According to NSSG data (2001), ten settlements belong ,which are Amyntaio, Analipsi, Sotiras, Agios Panteleimonas, Kelly, Kleidi, Xino Nero, Petres, Rodonas, Fanos.
