The Study concerns the elaboration of the General Urban Plan of the Municipal Unit of Oraiokastro of the Kallikratis Municipality of Oraiokastro based in the homonymous settlement. The Stage A has been completed and the Board of Directors is expected to give their opinion in order to give mandate for the Stage B of the Study.
The Municipality Unit of Oraiokastro is centrally located in the Regional Unit of Thessaloniki, north of the Urban Planning Area and covers an area of approximately 22 acres. The Municipal Unit do not have areas that are part of the Natura 2000 network, but have significant forest areas in their northern areas which should be properly protected. . It also has remarkable archaeological sites and monuments. The only settlement of the Municipal Unity is Oraiokastro, which together with Thermi, Asvestohori, Filiro, Kalochori and Sindos are dynamic settlements of the Metropolitan Area of Thessaloniki. The dominant use in the Urban Units of Oraiokastro is the dwelling, however, there are some variations, so in the center of the settlement the dwelling is combined with commercial and recreational uses, while in the areas of the extensions there are areas of pure dwelling.
