GAIA SA Meleton as a member of the consortium TOPMAPS (GAIA SA, MACEDONIKI ETM E.E., GEOMATICS S.A.) undertook the study of the cadastral survey and the elaboration of the cadastral survey for the implementation of the TAP Adriatic gas pipeline project, Trans Adriatic Pipeline.

The gas pipeline Trans Adriatic Pipeline – TAP will transport natural gas from Greece and Albania and through the Adriatic Sea to southern Italy Puglia and will further expand to Western Europe. The project aims to enhancing security of supply as well as diversifying sources of gas supply for the European markets. The TAP plans to open a new southern gas corridor to Europe and a new natural gas market from the Caspian region. The project is designed to increase the transport capacity of 10 to 20 bcm / year.

The study carried out by the Consortium includes the digitization of the existing cadastral data in Greece in the areas which through the pipeline will pass for the needs of the implementation of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline – TAP pipeline project in order to collect, georeferenced and digitize all available existing cadastral data which are necessary for the affected logging rights, as part of TAP’s construction. Moreover, it also aims to create a Cadastral Database or to verify and update the existing Cadastre, if any, concerning the necessary data for the rights and the beneficiaries that affected.  Our Company as a member of the TOPMAPS Consortium, which has undertaken the updating of the cadastral data throughout the TAP pipeline in Greece, has made a series of contacts with residents and stakeholders in the framework of public consultation and information of local communities.

Also, our Company held public meetings and events in municipalities that are involved, namely on 23/9/2013 in Lagadas of Thessaloniki, on 14/9/2013 in Irakleia of Serres, on 01/10/2013 in the Municipality of Emmanouil Pappas of Serres , on 30/9/2013 in Prossotsani of Drama and on 03/10/2013 in Kalampaki of Drama.

During these meetings, the Company’s Project, the procedures to be followed and the timetable for the completion of the update of the cadastral data in the specific areas, a process which has already begun since the summer of 2013 and is expected to be completed at the beginning of the year the following year, were presented.
