{"id":8838,"date":"2023-06-15T13:18:46","date_gmt":"2023-06-15T10:18:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gaiasa.gr\/studies-for-the-improvement-of-the-provincial-road-of-thessaloniki-oraiokastro-galini-settlement\/"},"modified":"2026-09-09T12:23:13","modified_gmt":"2026-09-09T09:23:13","slug":"studies-for-the-improvement-of-the-provincial-road-of-thessaloniki-oraiokastro-galini-settlement","status":"publish","type":"ergo","link":"https:\/\/gaiasa.gr\/en\/ergo\/studies-for-the-improvement-of-the-provincial-road-of-thessaloniki-oraiokastro-galini-settlement\/","title":{"rendered":"STUDIES FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE PROVINCIAL ROAD OF THESSALONIKI &#8211; ORAIOKASTRO (GALINI SET\u03a4LEMENT)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><b>Project Scope<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The study concerns the improvement of a section of the 4th Provincial Road Thessaloniki\u2013Oraiokastro, extending from Chainage 2+474.25 to Chainage 5+441.65, with the aim of adapting the road\u2019s geometric and functional characteristics to the provisions of the Oraiokastro Municipality Urban Plan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The overall project study includes a <\/span><b>road design study<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, complemented by a series of supporting technical studies, including:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Topographical and urban planning study<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Architectural and structural design of the pedestrian bridge and technical works<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hydraulic study<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Electromechanical study<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Geotechnical study<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Environmental Impact Assessment<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Main Interventions<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The study includes the following key interventions:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Improvement of the road section within the Galini settlement<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including widening of the roadway and construction of sidewalks on both sides of the road.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Construction of five (5) at-grade roundabouts<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, aimed at improving traffic organization, flow and safety.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Construction of one (1) pedestrian bridge<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, providing a safe connection between the eastern and western sections of the Galini settlement.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Study Objectives<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main objective of the project is to upgrade the existing road infrastructure and improve road safety and functionality for all road users.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More specifically, the proposed interventions aim to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">improve the geometric and functional characteristics of the road;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">enhance road safety for drivers, pedestrians and other road users;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reduce traffic speeds;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">improve traffic capacity;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reduce conflict points and potential collision risks;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">improve traffic management and circulation;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">provide safe and accessible pedestrian routes.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Particular emphasis is placed on the <\/span><b>construction of the pedestrian bridge<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which will provide a safe connection between the two sections of the Galini settlement.
