Project
Client: Municipality of Thermi (former Municipalities of: Thermi, Vasilika)
Area: Settlement of N. Raidestos – Tagarades, Municipality of Thermi, Regional Unit of Thessaloniki
Study Category: Environmental (27)
The Environmental Impact Study, which was conducted in two stages (currently only the first one has been developed), concerns in settlement projects of lowland bed, a part about 1,600 meters long, of a stream (Lykorema) of the Municipality of Thermi (it is a stream of Anthemunda), in the outside urban planning zone of the Raidestos and Tagarades area, with the purpose of flood protection of adjacent cultivated parcels from the seasonal floods that observed. The environmental impacts of this project are considered to be of little value from an ecological point of view: are summarized in limited atmospheric pollutants by the machines to be used, limited noise during the construction of the project, as well as small scale effects on the ground.
At the same time, it is expected that positive effects will arise, concerning the protection of crops on the adjacent streams from floods, as well as the enrichment of the Anthemunda river waters from the floods of Lycorema. In the Environmental Impact Study an identification table and a qualitative environmental impact assessment were used for the construction and «operation» phases of the proposed Project.
Finally, environmental impact measures are proposed, which are realistic in their implementation, both from a construction and an economic point of view.
